Music Director
Music Director Steven Jamail recently premiered his musical Byzantium as part of the New York International Fringe Festival this past summer. He has also premiered two works under the direction of Tony award winning producer, Stuart Ostrow, at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. THE LOVELY BONES, adapted by Lisa Bunse from the novel by Alice Sebold; and NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDRA, which is being given a workshop production later this year.
Regionally, he has worked with the Reprise! Series and the record label Fynsworth Alley in Los Angeles, Theater Under the Stars in Houston, and served four seasons as resident musical director/conductor with the Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals. He has performed onstage with jazz legend Chick Corea, pianist/composer John Tesh, was a guest soloist with the Clear Lake Symphony and conducted the children’s chorus in the UNICEF Designs of Hope Gala honoring Academy Award winning composer, Richard Sherman. He is currently working on a new musical, CLARISSA, with director/playwright Cailin Heffernan. Steven holds a degree in music composition from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
