“I Can Do That!”

these kids
they’re so wanting to work
it lives in their bloodstream
their heart pulses to beat of the bass drum
they can’t help it

ACTE II (A Commitment to Excellence) is Rosie’s Broadway Kids scholarship program, where outstanding graduates of PS Broadway get the opportunity to take their new skills to another level.

Students are selected from the PS Broadway program and are re-evaluated on a yearly basis. ACTE II offers an extensive curriculum for the study of musical theater, and consists of two major elements:

The After-School Program Students meet regularly after school during the school year to participate in intensive ballet, tap, jazz, voice, and drama classes.

The Summer Intensive During the summer, students work all day long, Monday through Friday. In addition to their regular curriculum of classes, students have private vocal and acting coaching, and instrumental music classes. All students also learn and rehearse various musical theater pieces for a culminating performance for family and friends.

At times during the Summer Intensive, professional actors, singers, and dancers from the Broadway community join RBKids teaching staff and conduct master classes in their fields of expertise. Additionally, performers and musicians—whose styles range from Broadway to the classics —present informal concerts for ACTE II members and their families. A highlight of the summer includes rehearsal with founder Rosie O’Donnell. Under her direction, students polish their numbers from Broadway musicals.
