Nothing Like the City
As Rosie’s Broadway Kids prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary, our oldest and most experienced group of young performers in ACTE II will also mark five years of dedication, hard work, fun, laughter, and musical theater. Students have made the transition from elementary school to high school, and along the way have honed their skills from some of the theater industry’s brightest and most talented professionals. The gifted kids we met in fifth grade have blossomed, several years later, into remarkable young adults whose depth of talent and wide range of interests is as limitless as New York City itself. These qualities came in particular use when our teaching artists and ACTE II students recently took an eye-opening, behind the scenes look at the arts across Manhattan during the New York City public school’s Winter Break (February 18-22).
One Night Only
The huge ballroom of the Marriot Grand Marquis was alive with excitement on November 19 as guests, including Joan Rivers, Caroline Rhea, Jo Ann Worley, and Linda Dano, raved about the show they had just experienced. Performing to a selection of songs from Broadway classics, Rosie’s Broadway Kids shone brilliantly as they wowed the guests of the 2007 Rosie’s Gala. With Rosie at the podium, a raucous live auction that raised $110,000, and an incredible performance by Paul Simon, the night was a huge success.
